Killa Helmet

2026
PLA prop painting escape from tarkov gift

Killa is one of the most recognizable bosses in Escape from Tarkov, and his helmet is immediately identifiable to anyone who has played the game. This was a birthday gift for a friend, which added a hard constraint. The entire build, from print to sand to paint to detail, had to be done in under 48 hours. The printing and sanding went quickly, but the detailing work was where the time went.

The helmet is styled as worn post-Soviet Russian military surplus, which meant the weathering had to feel grounded in heavy use rather than clean sci-fi wear, with paint chips, rust staining, and scuffing concentrated in the places that take the most contact. I worked from reference screenshots of the in-game model to match the color palette and weathering distribution as closely as possible. Finishing under that kind of deadline made it one of the more stressful builds, but it is also one of the more detailed paint jobs I have done.
